Alkalize or Die

ALKALIZE OR DIE

Is "acid stomach" one of your frequent complaints? It has been stated that all illnesses come from too much acid waste in the body. Although it is possible to measure body fluid as being alkaline or acid, it is impossible to evaluate the state of body tissues (skin, glands, organs, muscles, ligaments, etc) based solely on blood, urine, or saliva tests.

Unfortunately, acid wastes that are not eliminated when they should be are reabsorbed from the colon into the liver and put back into circulation. Then they are deposited into the tissues, and it is in these tissue residues that sickness or health is determined. You get stiff or achy or develop pain somewhere in your body. Do you believe you are destined to suffer these aches and pains because your parents had them and they were always popping pills to relieve the symptoms, so it is normal for you to do the same?

You probably know about low pH (potential hydrogen) and high pH foods. Low pH is acid and high pH is alkaline. Acid wastes attack the joints, muscles, tissues, organs and glands causing minor or major dysfunction. If they attack the joints you might develop arthritis. If they attack the organs or glands, illnesses such as cancer, ulcers, or heart disease may occur. On the other hand, alkaline forming substances and situations lead to superior health.

The big question is - how do you maintain your body on the alkaline or health promoting side? Will taking antacids such as Tums or Alka-Seltzer do it? The answer is-

"absolutely not." Your stomach depends on a good supply of hydrochloric acid (HCL) to digest your food and to maintain a proper alkaline/acid balance and then it becomes alkaline after its vital job in the digestive process is done. If you take antacids frequently there will be insufficient HCL to digest your food and you will suffer from indigestion.

Your body's bank account is its great alkaline reserve. The body can call on it any time to release alkaline elements to neutralize the acid. The alkaline reserve acts as a buffer to maintain proper balance in the blood. Sickness quickly results if it gets out of balance.

Some drugs, or even foods that you are allergic to, can cause a quick acid reaction which may even result in death, as happened in many of the Vioxx cases, where the heart rhythm was altered by acid wastes, causing the drug Vioxx an anti-inflammatory drug, to be taken off the market. In the US. more than 700,000 deaths occur annually as a result of prescription drugs. Isn't that amazing? An alkaline body is ideal for proper heart function.

If there is insufficient hydrochloric acid in the stomach to break down food, the improperly broken down foods become too acidic. Instead of reaching for an antacid, you probably should be taking Betaine Hydrochloride tablets (HCL) and digestive enzymes to aid in the digestive process.

The best solution is to change your diet to 80% alkaline foods and 20% acid foods.

Most people nowadays are doing just the opposite.

In general, most fruits and vegetables create alkalinity in the body - we call them

"alkaline forming." The acid forming fruits are blueberries, cranberries, plums and prunes. Most grains, especially wheat and white rice, are acid forming Breads and pastries and all flour products are acid forming. Other acid forming foods are: meats, poultry, milk and eggs. Most sugars are acid forming. Soft drinks are very acidic.

Vegetable juices are alkaline forming, as are herbal teas made from plant leaves. Liquor, wine, beer, and coffee are acid forming.

We Americans are eating out more and more in fast food restaurants. How could you eat 80% alkaline foods at McDonalds? The bun, meat, cheese, ice-cream and the Coke are all acid forming. The only way we can improve our diet and eat the right foods is to cook at home. Are we willing to do that? There would not be nearly as many overweight people around if we did that.

If you must eat out and you are not able to eat enough vegetables and fruits, you could drink a fruit "smoothie" for breakfast, and carry a vegetable "smoothie" to work, This is made with fresh fruit or vegetable juice (which you can buy at the grocery store) blended in a blender with dark green leafy vegetables such as spinach, Swiss chard, or kale, a stick of celery (cut up) and half an apple (chopped), and add 2 tablespoons of whey powder or soy protein, and 2 teaspoons of olive oil.

If we are unwilling to change our eating habits, we will be paying the price with degenerative diseases such as cancer, arthritis, hypertension, and heart disease occurring at an early age, which is already happening. America spends more on health care than any other country in the world, but we are becoming sicker and sicker. The drug companies with all their advertising are creating a sick society with people looking for drugs to cure them instead of going back to eating the right foods and taking a good nutritional supplement to make up for the nutritional deficiencies in modern food.

Easy and satisfying lunch smoothie

EASY and SATISFYING LUNCH SMOOTHIE

Blend, in blender:

6 oz. carrot juice (fresh, bottled, from grocery store)

1/2 cup fresh spinach leaves., or 2 Swiss Chard leaves

1 stalk celery, cut in pieces

1/2 small, raw apple, cut in pieces

2 1-oz scoops of micro-filtered whey powder

1 tsp. extra virgin olive oil

Side dish: 2 sesame seed crackers spread with 1 tsp. peanut, almond, or cashew butter.

For dessert: 2 slices of candied dried ginger, served with hot or chilled herb tea.

This meal will not stimulate an insulin rush, followed by hunger and snacking on and off throughout the afternoon, because it provides to the body a good portion of a complete protein, some carbohydrate, and a small amount of fat to keep you from getting hungry. You will not need to snack. The raw vegetables and fruit provide needed vitamins and micronutrients.

Lunch at home for many women can be the least nutritious meal of the day - like 2 slices of bread with a slice of cheese or ham between, or both, a Coke, and a piece of pie or cake. Or it may be just a piece of pie or cake with a Coke. This meal stimulates an insulin rush. In an hour or two you will be hungry and you will start snacking throughout the afternoon, and you won't be getting slimmer!
